Data sheet
Diamant is a push your luck game designed by Bruno Faidutti and Alan R. Moon, in which players take on the role of explorers aiming to collect as many diamonds as possible. To succeed, they must carefully decide each turn whether to press on in their journey or retreat before facing peril.
Diamant is a fast and fun game, easy to pick up, where you constantly have to test your luck. Players venture into a cave that reveals treasures and mysteries that adventurers want to claim. In Diamant, each player decides each turn whether to advance or retreat using two cards: one to indicate they will continue and another to indicate they will leave. Players place their chosen card face down in the center of the table.
All players reveal their hidden cards simultaneously. If the decision is to continue, a new card is drawn from the deck to represent the cave, and the number shown indicates how many diamonds the explorers have found. Players share the total equally, leaving any remainder on the card. But beware, some cards contain traps; if a trap appears a second time in a round, all players who chose to continue fall into it and lose all diamonds collected that round. Players who retreat safely may take the diamonds left behind and add them to their treasure chests.
With simple rules, Diamant offers an entertaining and quick game with an easy-to-learn push your luck mechanic, perfect for 3 to 8 friends or family members.
The talented illustrators involved in the game’s design are Jorg Asselborn, Matthias Catrein, Prapach Lapamnuaysap, Paul Mafayon, Claus Stephan, and Christof Tisch. Over the years, the game has been nominated for and won numerous awards worldwide, including nominations for the Japan Boardgame and the U-More Prize 2011, winner of the Golden Geek Best Light/Party Game 2006, recommended in the Spiel des Jahres 2005, and third place in the Kinderspielexperten 8–13-year-olds, among many others.
If exploration and fast, entertaining games are your thing, or if you have honed an excellent poker face, get ready to embark on adventures with Diamant. Enter the cave!
