In the desolate, wind-swept snowy landscapes of Antarctica, the peaks known as nunataks rise above the frozen surface. They are believed to be the summits of mountains buried deep beneath the snow. In reality, these nunataks are the remains of giant ice temples built by a forgotten civilization.
As a member of that ancient civilization, you face the harshest conditions to build the greatest temple humanity has ever seen. Sharpen your tools, prepare your draft animals, and transport ice blocks to the construction site. Adorn them with carvings and receive the blessings of the Ancestors to build Nunatak, the Ice Temple.
Designed by Kane Klenko, it can be enjoyed solo or with groups of up to 4 players, ages 10 and up. Players will create sections of the temple with ice blocks that grant points during the game. In the final scoring, even more points are added depending on the cards obtained. The winner will be the one who accumulates the highest score.
On each turn, players take a construction card that indicates where they must place an ice block of their color. As blocks are placed, the temple gradually takes shape, becoming a spectacular pyramid. When 2x2 cube sections are completed, players score points based on who has the most cubes in that section. Once the entire pyramid is completed, the final scoring takes place.
In Nunatak there are 6 different types of cards, granting bonus points at the end of the game depending on how many have been collected. Worker cards, for example, award 20 points to the player with the most, while ice carver cards offer a variable amount of points depending on how many each player has obtained.
With high-quality components and an impressive table presence, Nunatak offers fast, highly engaging games. On their turn, each player must decide whether to take a specific type of card for the final scoring or place an ice block in a key spot on the board to earn immediate points. Sharpen your tools and build the most spectacular ice temple in Antarctica!
