Slay the Spire: The Board Game. MASQUEOCA

Slay the Spire is the board game edition of the famous indie video game. It is a cooperative Roguelike deck-building adventure. Build a unique deck and customize it to your liking, encounter strange creatures and face them, discover powerful relics, and ultimately become strong enough to complete the adventure.

This edition includes all content unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign, except for some exclusive campaign items.

SOLO OR COOPERATIVE MODE FOR UP TO FOUR PLAYERS

Slay the Spire is a Deckbuilder, meaning deck-building is the main game mechanic. Each player starts with a simple deck they can improve by adding, upgrading, or removing cards. You will use your deck in combat against increasingly difficult enemies. If you die, you restart from the beginning, applying what you learned in previous attempts.

Each act lasts about 20 minutes per player. You can pause and resume the game at any time. To win, you must reach the top of the tower and defeat the final boss. Death is always a risk, as in any dungeon game.

Gameplay

You will choose one of 4 heroes to undertake a mission, ending in a boss fight. Along the map, you will encounter creatures, elite monsters, events requiring decisions, camps to rest, treasure rooms with relics, and more. You must select your route to reach the tower’s summit.

The 4 characters are:

• The Ironclad: specializes in dealing damage, sometimes at the cost of its own health.
• The Silent: specializes in prolonged fights, with card draw and poison abilities.
• The Defect: uses orbs and powers to resist and tackle any situation.
• The Watcher: uses different combat stances to focus on damage or gain extra energy for future turns.

You start with a basic deck of attack and defense cards. As you defeat enemies and find treasures, you can expand and improve your deck with special attacks, unique abilities, special powers, curses, magic attacks, and relics. You can also trade, acquire potions, and colorless cards.

On your turn, you have energy to play cards until it runs out. Then enemies take their turn, using attacks, defenses, and special effects. Each final boss has unique abilities that test your deck and strategy.

Differences between the Video Game and the Board Game

The board game version keeps the essence of the video game, with the same enemies, attacks, and cards. It allows sharing the experience with friends, cooperating, and enjoying improved illustrations and premium components.
