Root: Marauder Hirelings Pack Game Contents

Root: Marauder Hirelings Pack is an expansion for the board game Root that introduces six new hirelings to expand the tactical possibilities of your games. These characters can join the Woodland conflict to offer new strategic options, which are especially engaging when playing at lower player counts.

The new hirelings are organized into three pairs: The Flame Bearers and Street Bandits, The Vault Keepers and Badger Bodyguards, and The Popular Band and Street Band. Each brings a distinct way to intervene in the match and can shift the balance of power across the Forest.

This expansion also includes a dedicated Hireling Box designed to store and organize all the different hirelings from Root, including those from the Riverfolk Hirelings and Underworld Hirelings packs.

The Root base game is required to play with this expansion.

How Do You Play?

Hirelings can be added to games of Root to introduce new figures, abilities, and tactical options. Their presence brings additional forces onto the map, changing the decisions players must make throughout the conflict.

At lower player counts, hirelings add extra pieces to the board, increasing tension and providing more opportunities to dispute control of the Woodland. At higher player counts, some of their cards reveal special abilities that open up brand-new strategies.

The six new hirelings in this expansion are grouped into three pairs. The Flame Bearers and Street Bandits offer alternatives related to fire mechanics and contraband operations; The Vault Keepers and Badger Bodyguards provide defensive and control capabilities; while The Popular Band and Street Band introduce new ways to influence the flow of the match.

Hirelings can shift their allegiance as the conflict develops, adding a dynamic dimension to the battle for the Forest. You will need to carefully assess when to utilize their skills and how they might affect each faction's position on the board.

Designed to seamlessly integrate into Root matches, this expansion enhances strategic possibilities without replacing the base game factions. You must own Root to play with this content.

The fact that hirelings can change loyalties fits perfectly with the ever-shifting nature of Root. Alliances and positional advantages can change rapidly, forcing players to adapt their plans and seize emerging opportunities.
