Historical Background of the Frecciarossa 1000 "Iryo" Train
Iryo is a private company formed by Trenitalia, Air Nostrum, and Globalvia. It began its services in November 2022, starting operations on the Madrid–Barcelona route, among others.
It uses ETR 1000 high-speed trains, also known as Frecciarossa 1000, adapted for Spain (series S109). These trains can reach speeds of up to 360 km/h and have a capacity of around 419 passengers.
The Madrid–Barcelona route offers 32 daily journeys.
