History of the 444-004:
The RENFE 444-004 unit was one of the first in the 444 series, developed in the early 1980s to modernize medium-distance rail services in Spain.
With a top speed of 160 km/h and a three-car design, it represented a major step forward in comfort, reliability, and performance.
Manufactured by CAF, MACOSA, and Westinghouse, it operated extensively on routes in northern and central Spain, standing out with its red and yellow livery, a symbol of a new era in Spanish rail transport. Over time, it was withdrawn from service, but it remains a historical reference of that modernization period.
