The Great War. MALDITO GAMES

The Great War, a game by Richard Borg, the renowned designer of light wargames such as Memoir ’44 and Battlelore, depicts the epic battles of World War I, allowing players to reenact the historic confrontations. The battles included in the scenario book focus on the historical deployment of forces and important features of trench warfare terrain, according to the game system’s scale. This scale is flexible and varies from scenario to scenario. In some, a few infantry units may represent an entire flank of a larger battle, while in others, a single unit may represent only a small group of brave soldiers in a trench assault.

The Command system cards direct movement, generating a "fog of war" that offers players endless possibilities, while the combat dice resolve encounters quickly and efficiently. Overall, the tactics players must execute on the battlefield to achieve victory align perfectly with the strengths and limitations of the various WWI units, their weapons, the battlefield, and the historical record.

The centennial edition updates the miniatures, made of semi-rigid plastic at 1:100 scale and ready to play (no assembly required). This edition also introduces a series of visual enhancements to the base game.
