Considered by many as one of the greatest strategy games of all time, Twilight Struggle accurately recreates the conflict that defined the second half of the 20th century: the Cold War. Players take command of either the United States or the USSR, attempting to expand their influence worldwide and secure victory. Designed by Jason Matthews and Ananda Gupta, it is a two-player game recommended for ages 14 and up, with sessions lasting approximately 3 hours.

The central board displays a world map divided into key regions that players compete to control for victory points. Each turn, players can distribute influence, conduct coups or realignments, advance in the space race, or play events from their cards, which depict important figures and happenings between 1945—after World War II—and 1989, with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

True to the Cold War spirit, Twilight Struggle forces players to carefully balance their actions: showing power without triggering nuclear war, which would result in immediate defeat. Tension is constant, as the effects of event cards are not always predictable; playing an event that benefits your opponent can be risky, yet sometimes strategically advantageous to mitigate its impact. Additionally, players can hold a card between turns or discard it to advance in the space race, while maximizing territorial control by evaluating influence, presence, and dominance in each region.
