Flames of War: Armored Rifle Platoon - US mechanized infantry platoon. BATTLE FRONT UBX51

Product contents Armored Rifle Platoon

The Armored Rifle Platoon by Flames of War allows you to deploy one of the most versatile, mobile, and heavily armed mechanized infantry forces of the entire European Theater in World War II onto your tabletop. Integrated into the armored divisions of the United States Army, these infantrymen combined high transport mobility with a devastating arsenal of short- and medium-range support weapons.

Popularly known for their ability to deploy rapidly and wreak havoc across enemy lines, armored rifle platoons carried an exceptional weapons loadout including M1 Garand semi-automatic rifles, .30 cal light machine guns, Bazooka anti-tank rocket launchers, and 60mm mortars. The entire platoon was transported in iconic M3 Half-track troop carriers—versatile, rugged vehicles featuring light armor protection and mounts for heavy machine guns.

How to use the Armored Rifle Platoon in Flames of War

On the Flames of War gaming table, this mechanized platoon offers outstanding tactical flexibility. Its synergy of half-track mobility and firepower lets you respond quickly to changing battlefield conditions—whether executing lightning assaults to secure key objectives or entrenching defensive positions in urban and wooded terrain.

Thanks to integrated Bazooka teams and machine gun squads, the platoon can comfortably engage entrenched enemy infantry as well as light and medium vehicles, making it an essential supporting element for Sherman tank formations in your force lists.
