Product contents Grenadier Platoon (Early)
The Grenadier Platoon (Early) by Flames of War allows you to recreate German Army infantry tactics during the opening stages of World War II (Early-War). Following lessons learned during the Poland campaign, the German high command restructured its formations to provide troops with greater flexibility and a significantly higher volume of fire on the front line.
Each platoon was reorganized into four ten-man Gruppen (squads), enabling the integration of up to four MG34 light machine guns per section, supported by service rifles and MP40 submachine guns in the hands of NCOs. This tactical combination transformed German infantry into a lethal force, capable of advancing under sustained firepower and overwhelming enemy defensive positions.
How to use the Grenadier Platoon in Flames of War
On the Flames of War tabletop, this Early-War grenadier platoon serves as the essential core of your infantry forces. Its expanded four-squad structure provides superior endurance in attrition warfare and excellent assault capability to secure key objectives.
Furthermore, the inclusion of specialized support teams—such as the 5cm light mortar for harassing entrenched positions and the 7.92mm anti-tank rifle for dealing with lightly armored vehicles—gives the platoon the versatility required to answer any threat on early-conflict battlefields.

Assembly and painting of the miniatures
The miniatures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. To achieve optimal results on the gaming table, the use of plastic adhesive, modeling tools (precision flush cutters, hobby knife, and files), and miniature paints is recommended.
You can paint the uniforms in classic Early-War German field grey (Feldgrau), texture the bases with European terrain elements, and apply washes to bring out details on weapons and soldiers' field gear.
