The Panther Tank Platoon for Flames of War allows you to field five Panther medium tanks within your World War II German forces. Renowned as one of the most formidable armored vehicles of the war, the Panther combined a powerful long-barreled 7.5cm KwK 42 gun with thick, sloped frontal armor, making it a deadly adversary for Allied armored formations.
Its primary battlefield role was to concentrate firepower during decisive armored spearheads, punch through heavily defended sectors, and leverage its front-arc protection to dominate long-range anti-tank engagements. Operating in disciplined platoons, Panthers served as the ultimate armored punch for Late War German companies.
The Panther is a premier choice for building an elite German armored force focused on high-impact combat. Its high anti-tank rating and excellent front armor rating allow it to engage enemy medium and heavy armor with impunity from long range. To maximize their effectiveness, coordinate their advance with supporting infantry and recon elements to protect their vulnerable flank armor from enemy maneuvers.
In your Flames of War games, this box set gives you a complete armored platoon capable of spearheading attacks or holding critical choke points. The included unit cards allow you to field them seamlessly using official D-Day and Late War German force lists.
First seeing action at the Battle of Kursk in 1943, the Panther (Panzerkampfwagen V) was developed in direct response to the Soviet T-34. Designed to strike an optimal balance between firepower, sloped armor protection, and cross-country mobility, it proved to be one of Germany's most effective tank designs.
Although officially designated as a medium tank, its weight, armament, and protection rivaled heavy tanks of other nations. Panthers served extensively across both the Eastern and Western fronts until the final days of the war, earning a legendary reputation among tank crews on all sides.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Assembly requires plastic cement, and painting requires acrylic hobby paints suitable for military scale modeling.
The included decal sheet provides authentic Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS balkenkreuz markings and turret numbers. You can paint your Panthers in classic late-war three-tone camouflage schemes (Dunkelgelb, Olivgrün, and Rotbraun) to match your Normandy or Eastern Front forces.
Reinforce your German army with the Panther Tank Platoon for Flames of War and field five of World War II's most legendary armored fighting vehicles on your tabletop!
