Flames of War: 75mm Self-propelled Gun Platoon Product Contents

The 75mm Self-propelled Gun Platoon for Flames of War features two M3 75mm SPM halftracks designed to deliver direct fire support for United States forces during the Pacific War. Combining cross-country mobility with artillery firepower, these half-tracks accompanied infantry units to suppress and destroy hard targets that light weapons could not eliminate.

While originally doctrine called for these self-propelled guns to flank enemy armor and set up anti-tank ambushes, tactical conditions in the Pacific shifted their primary role. In this theater, M3 SPMs were overwhelmingly employed as bunker-busters, leveling fortified pillboxes and strongpoints impeding the infantry's advance.

How to Deploy the 75mm Self-propelled Gun Platoon in Flames of War

The high-explosive power of the 75mm gun provides critical fire support when breaching well-fortified defense lines. Throughout the Pacific campaigns, these vehicles were regularly attached to frontline infantry regiments to provide immediate, heavy mobile fire support right where the fighting was thickest.

In your Flames of War games, this platoon serves as a high-mobility assault unit capable of keeping pace with your advancing infantry while concentrating destructive fire against enemy fortifications and key targets. Including these half-tracks adds distinct tactical versatility and historical flavor to your US forces in Pacific scenarios.
