Flames of War: Bulge: American Book Product Contents
Flames of War: Bulge: American is a sourcebook dedicated to the United States forces that fought on the Western Front during the final phase of World War II, between 1944 and 1945. It traces operations from the liberation of France and the Lorraine campaign through the heroic defense of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, up to the Allied advance into the heart of Germany.
In September 1944, US forces swept across France and threatened the borders of Germany. The sudden German counteroffensive in December dramatically shifted the course of the campaign in the Ardennes, forcing US units into desperate defensive battles. The stand at Bastogne by the 101st Airborne Division and the relief forced by the 4th Armored Division became defining moments of the war. By March 1945, American troops seized the Remagen bridge over the Rhine, securing their march deep into Germany.
American Forces on the Western Front
The book provides rich historical background on the US Army during three crucial stages of the campaign in Europe:
- The Liberation of France and the Lorraine Campaign.
- The Battle of the Bulge and the Defense of Bastogne.
- The Allied Advance into Germany and the Crossing of the Rhine.
It also includes force organization rules for American units in Flames of War, allowing you to build historically accurate lists to represent tactical engagements across the Western Front.

Additionally, the book adds environmental rules for fog and winter conditions, allowing weather to affect sightlines and mobility to create deep tactical gameplay.
