Description
Styrene is a liquid that binds into chains to form high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) in solid form, which is one of the most commonly used plastics with the common name of Plasticard or Evergreen. HIPS is lightweight and easy to work with, making it a favorite of hobbyists and modelers.
This type of material, compared to ABS and uPVC, is especially easy to cut, scratch, and bend, which allows for precise and detailed designs. It can be glued with cyanoacrylate adhesives and specific glue for plastics compatible with this material, creating very strong bonds. Its smooth surface accepts paint well, providing excellent results for finished models. However, this material may not be as durable as ABS when subjected to high stresses.
