Data sheet
On June 28, 1914, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo lit the fuse that would set off all the tensions that had been building up in Europe for more than a century. Like a house of cards, the complex web of alliances and European interests precipitated the outbreak of the First World War.
Created by Ted S. Raicer, Paths of Glory is a strategy game that allows two players to simulate the Great War in an entertaining yet historically accurate way. Originally published in 1999, its innovative game system has earned it numerous awards worldwide, and it now returns in a new special revised Spanish edition. The main novelty of this edition is the double-sided board, with two versions of the map. On one side is the classic map by Mark Simonitch, and on the other a new version by Terry Leeds which, beyond aesthetic changes, adjusts the deployment spaces and VP spaces to those of the historical scenario. In addition, this map incorporates contributions from the community, who have provided information on the correct place names and national borders of that historical period. Alongside the game board, the box includes more than 300 counters and 130 cards. To win, players must deploy their troops, devise the best tactics, move and fight across the map, seeking the key locations that will tilt the war toward one side or the other. Each player has a number of command markers that can be used to activate units. However, these markers are limited, making careful planning and well-timed strategic decisions essential.
History enthusiasts will recognize in this title the main milestones that shaped the First World War. Battles, characters, and events from 1914 to 1918 are represented through the cards players will use. Thanks to this special edition, the most complete ever published, players will be able to return to the trenches and immerse themselves in one of the great conflicts of modern history—essential for understanding the 20th century.
