America in the 19th Century: You are a cowboy whose goal is to drive your cattle from Texas to Kansas City, from where they will be shipped by rail to many other cities. You must keep your cattle in good shape and use the buildings you find along the way to acquire better specimens, obtain certificates that increase their market value, and hire personnel such as cowboys, builders, and engineers to make your job easier. If you manage your resources well and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Great Western Trail while overcoming its difficulties, you will emerge victorious.

In Great Western Trail, you will have to drive your cattle to Kansas City to ship them by rail to other cities. You will start the game with a deck of low-value cattle cards and, each time you reach Kansas, you will have to sell them. But be careful, only cattle cards of different breeds will count toward the total value of your goods; the higher the market value, the more and better cities will be willing to acquire them, and the more money and victory points you will earn.

Great Western Trail is an exciting management game offering countless ways to earn victory points. Focus on building construction, amassing large amounts of cattle, hiring plenty of staff, fully developing your transport capacity, or play in a balanced way trying to score points from all possible sources — the possibilities are endless!
