Explore the ancient sea of Vastitas Borealis or play on the massive Amazonis map, whose global parameter tracks are longer! Each map represents a new region of Mars, with different placement bonuses, ocean areas, and new milestones and rewards.

AMAZONIS PLANITIA

The name of this map comes from the lava plains west of the majestic Olympus Mons. This area is full of energy bonuses and is extremely flat and smooth compared to the mountain ranges and craters covering most of Mars' surface. This large map has longer global parameter tracks, enhancing the 4- or 5-player experience. You will also find wild resources, allowing you to gain 1 standard resource of your choice. Delegate bonuses allow you to place delegates for free from the supply (ignore if not playing with Conflicts). You can place the Noctis City anywhere, and the volcanic areas are marked: Olympus Mons, Ascraeus Mons, Pavonis Mons, Arsia Mons, and Hecates Tholus.

VASTITAS BOREALIS

Vastitas Borealis is a lowland area covering most of Mars' northern hemisphere. Long ago, it was a great ocean! This map centers on the North Pole, mostly made of ice. Above it is a layer of frozen carbon dioxide, which will be released when you place a tile there. This will raise the temperature but costs 4 M€. The first landing sites on Mars, Viking 1 and Viking 2, allow you to place 1 delegate for free from the supply (ignore if not playing with Conflicts). The Vastitas map does not have the Noctis region, so you can place the Noctis City anywhere. However, it does have 4 volcanic areas where you can place tiles like Lava Rivers: Hecates Tholus, Elysium Mons, Alba Mons, and Uranius Tholus.
