Data sheet
Salton Sea is a very unique place, located in California, very close to the Mexican border. The characteristics of this salt lake make it a one-of-a-kind site for generating geothermal energy, harnessing the heat from the planet’s interior. In this area of intense geothermal activity, you will drill the ground and extract steam and hot water to obtain brine, which, once processed, will allow you to produce valuable lithium. A modern industry, far from fossil fuels, that will enable you to lead the energy transition toward a fully renewable future.
Designed by David Bernal and illustrated by Amelia Sales, Salton Sea can be enjoyed solo or in groups of up to 4 players, ages 14 and up, in sessions of about 120 minutes.
During the game, players must manage their geothermal companies, extracting brine and generating geothermal energy and lithium to earn the most victory points. Efficient management of your industrial capacity and making key decisions will drive your company forward. On your turn, you will place one of your four engineers in one of the available spaces to perform an action. There are three distinct groups of actions: industrial (allowing you to obtain exploration licenses, drill, extract, process, and repair machinery), commercial actions (sell, acquire contracts, and fulfill contracts), and management actions (research, buy shares, develop the business project, or obtain financing). It is up to you to manage your engineers at each stage of the game to maximize your company’s performance. However, there is no single path to success… there are many ways to earn victory points!
Will you master the power of Salton Sea to build the most efficient geothermal company?
