Designed by Andrew Roy and illustrated by Carlos Ureta, Blind Business is a card game for 2 to 5 players that offers 15- to 30-minute sessions. To win, you’ll need to make blind deals with the other players and score as many points as possible.
Blind Business consists of a deck of 50 cards, numbered from 1 to 11 in 4 different color groups, plus 6 wild cards. At the beginning of the game, each player receives 4 cards from the deck. After looking at them, they must shuffle them and place them face up for everyone else to see, without knowing the order in which the cards ended up. On each turn, the active player must request a card from an opponent, who may accept or refuse. If they refuse, the opponent takes the requested card and places it in their play area to score it at the end of the game, while the active player may take any of the opponent’s other cards. If the opponent accepts, they may claim a card from the active player’s hand in exchange. The active player may accept the deal—both getting the desired card—or refuse, in which case each player places in their play area the card involved in the deal. Then, players refill their hands to 4 cards, visible to everyone except their owner.
The cards are arranged in columns by color, representing the city’s four districts: the park, the seafront, the station, and downtown. At the end of the game, depending on majorities and card combinations, players will score additional points. A player can also win immediately by collecting five consecutive cards of a single color, so keep an eye on your rivals!
Blind Business is part of Devir’s pocket collection, known for offering great games in a compact and affordable format. Besides being portable, these are versatile titles suitable for all audiences. Blind Business sessions play out very quickly, and you’ll likely end up playing several in a row.
