Sky Team: cooperative two-player aviation board game. ASMODEE

Product contents Sky Team

Sky Team is an acclaimed, strictly cooperative two-player board game (winner of the prestigious Spiel des Jahres 2024 award), putting you and your partner in the cockpit of a commercial airliner as pilot and co-pilot. Your mission is to work in perfect harmony to coordinate your approach maneuvers and execute a smooth, safe landing at some of the world's most demanding airports.

From the runways of Montreal to the complex approach into Tokyo, the game immerses you in the authentic tension of a commercial flight deck. Across 11 airports and 21 different scenarios, you will face extreme weather conditions, turbulence, heavy crosswinds, congested air traffic, icy runways, and even unpredictable fuel leaks.

How to play Sky Team

Gameplay takes place along an approach track tracking the aircraft's altitude. During each descent round, both players roll their dice behind personal player screens to plan their actions. However, a fundamental rule creates constant tension: verbal communication is strictly forbidden while placing dice onto the cockpit control panel.

Turn by turn, you must place your colored dice into corresponding slots on the dual-layer cockpit board to execute vital flight maneuvers. You will need to balance the plane's tilt by adjusting the artificial horizon, control engine speed, deploy flaps and landing gear, engage the brakes upon touchdown, and contact air traffic control to clear incoming traffic before it is too late.

Simulation modules and variability

Beyond the introductory flights, Sky Team includes a flight logbook packed with additional expansion modules that progressively increase strategic complexity. You can incorporate mechanics such as strict kerosene fuel management, an intern pilot assistant (requiring special dice assignment and supervision), an emergency handbrake for short runways, or unique tactical skill cards to handle critical situations.

This modular structure ensures that every airport presents a completely unique challenge, requiring you to refine your non-verbal teamwork as you master the most difficult landing strips.
