Hoddog: Card Game of Skill and Luck. ASMODEE

Hoddog Product Contents

Hoddog is a fun skill-and-luck card game where players compete to assemble the longest hot dog before the final drop of ketchup falls. Its combination of simple rules, quick decision-making, and an unpredictable ending makes it ideal for fast, casual sessions.

Designed for 2 to 5 players, matches last between 5 and 15 minutes, making Hoddog especially well-suited for family gatherings, friend hangouts, or as a quick filler between longer games. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

How to Play

The objective of Hoddog is straightforward: build the longest hot dog possible before the final Ketchup Splat card is revealed.

On your turn, you must choose one of three available actions. You can draw 3 cards from the deck, draft 2 cards from the market (replacing them immediately), or play a set of cards to extend your hot dog.

A unique feature of the game is that there is no hand limit. This allows you to hoard cards and wait for the perfect moment to drop massive sets that rapidly grow your hot dog.

However, you must keep a close eye on the Ketchup Splat cards. As soon as the final one appears, the game ends on the spot—so you won't always have time to execute the mega-combo you were setting up.

Gameplay Experience

Hoddog blends skill and push-your-luck mechanisms in a fast-paced environment where every turn can turn the tables. Choosing between drawing blind, drafting market cards, or playing a set forces you to continually re-evaluate your best path forward.

Having unlimited hand capacity encourages ambitious plays, but it also introduces a risky dilemma: holding out too long might leave you caught empty-handed if the game ends prematurely.

The reveal of the final Ketchup Splat card delivers an unpredictable sudden death finish. Knowing when to press your luck and when to play the cards in hand is just as crucial as collecting top ingredients.

With rounds lasting only 5 to 15 minutes, Hoddog maintains a brisk momentum that makes playing multiple back-to-back matches effortless.
